Pioneer AVIC F700BT In Dash Navigation Audio Receiver with CD Playback and Advanced Voice Controls
April 5, 2009 by DigiBliss · Leave a Comment

The Pioneer AVIC-F700BT car stereo marries solid entertainment capabilities with advanced navigation. Its flash-based GPS system comes pre-loaded TeleAtlas maps of the US and Canada, featuring more than 12 million points of interest and robust user routing options. Built-in Bluetooth allows you to make hands-free calls on compatible devices, and Pioneer’s voice-recognition software lets you use voice commands to control your phone or iPod (with separate iPod adapter). Hugely expandable, with options for iPod connectivity, MSN Direct, HD radio, XM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio, and more, the AVIC-F700BT also includes a USB interface for quick connection to iPod music players, portable media players and USB memory device. Additionally, SD memory card support means you can insert cards filled with additional Points of Interest or compressed audio and video for your use and enjoyment. Link all your devices together into one seamless experience.
5.8-inch Widescreen LCD
The AVIC-F700BT features a 5.8-inch widescreen color LCD with WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, perfect for navigation via GPS, or simply navigating your audio files.
A New Class of Navigation
No more hassling with map discs. Now you don’t have to worry about discs being misplaced, damaged, lost, or stolen because we’ve done away with them for the F-Series navigation line. Pioneer has taken the entire TeleAtlas Database that was previously on the two-DVD set, compressed it down, and stored it internally on flash memory.
- Touch panel key operation–It is possible to operate the navigation and audio functions by using the touch panel key.
- 2D and 3D map view modes–Various types of screen displays can be selected for navigation guidance
- A variety of Points of Interest (POI) information–More than 100 types of POI categories are included in the database. You also can create your own customized POIs and categories.
- Auto reroute function–If you deviate from the set route, the system will re-calculate the route from that point so that you remain on track to the destination.
Freedom of Speech
The AVIC-F700BT offers a new generation of voice recognition capability for controlling iPod* playback and making calls hands-free via connected Bluetooth-enabled cell phones. The technology accepts and recognizes conversational phrases and language, filters out superfluous sounds and phrases, and if the user doesn’t give enough information in the command, the unit will ask additional questions to clarify the request.
In Touch, Hands-Free
The AVIC-F700BT comes with built-in Bluetooth. Now you never need to miss a call, even if your tunes are cranked up or your phone is buried in your bag.
Mobile Media
Pioneer has created a line of Navigation systems that make it easy to play various digital and audio formats like: CD-R/RW discs, Portable Media Players like iPod, USB memory devices, and SD Cards. The AVIC-F700BT can play a wide range of files types as well, such as MP3, WMA, iTunes AAC, and MPEG-4 video files.
Make it Personal
Personalize your drive. AVIC FEEDS freeware contains POI Creator, Driving Report, and Picture Editor Applications. You never know where the road will take you, but our POI Creator can help you get started on the right path.
Blending In
Like its predecessor, the AVIC-D3, the new AVIC-F700BT allows you to change the illumination color to match your car. Select from among 32,768 different colors to match car interior and dashboard lighting.
Seeing Is Believing
The old WQVGA displays that most Navigation units use are 480 x 234 pixels. However, the WVGA display is much higher quality at 800 x 480 pixels. Images become sharper and more defined, just like our maps and menus on these units. The display’s enhanced GUI (Graphic User Interface) has also advanced, making system control and management effortless.
iPod Control Made Simple
With the new CD-IU230V cable, you can directly control your music and videos from your iPod. Fast and easy control through USB, the AVIC-F700BT also features iPod Album Art display, Alphabetical Speed Search, and much more.
AM/FM Radio
Always have your favorite stations at hand with 18 FM and 6 AM user presets.
Best Stations Memory
Setting your radio presets can be a real pain while you’re driving–especially if you’re in an unfamiliar area. So, let the tuner do the work for you by activating the Best Stations Memory (BSM) function. The tuner will seek out the six strongest stations in the area and set them into the tuner presets.
Adding Another Set of Eyes
For safer parking, try using the ND-BC2 or ND-BC20PA backup cameras. The system automatically displays images shot from a connected camera as the vehicle shifts into reverse.
AUX-In Connection
Use the built-in AUX input for connecting any portable digital player or other external auxiliary devices. For extra-convenient access, the AVIC-F700BT has this input on the front panel.
What’s in the Box
Pioneer AVIC-F700BT, wiring harness, installation hardware, operation manual, installation guide, warranty sheet

2 Stars I regret buying this unit
I bought the 700BT a couple of weeks ago (two units actually) and there are still a host of bugs with it. For example, the Sirius and HD preset lists don’t change to the name of the channel–the just say “Preset 1, Preset 2,…”
[...] and check out the radio BEFORE you buy. Pioneer Tech Support was rude and unresponsive when I called. Very disappointing.
4 Stars AVIC-F700BT - So Far…SO GOOD.
Debated between AVIC700 and 900 and ultimately decided on AVIC-F700BT. I have about 17 movies already on my IPOD (gotta love MP4 and Digital Copy) and did NOT want to carry around ANY DVD’s in my collection due to bad memories of damaged CD’s. Also didnt need MSN Direct. So W/ AVIC700BT being $200 cheaper (on Amazon) than 900 - 700 was clear winner. Self-Installed entire new sound system in my 01 Maxima starting w/ AVIC700. Lucked out and found a double-din dash kit locally that completely matched my Maxima interior. Fit n’Finish is good: A- grade. Only mod done was Parking break HARDWARE mod (didn’t want to brick this using any shady software mod). This thing is cool! It has bugs yes (some very annoying) but overall FABULOUS product for price.
POSITIVES:
1.MOVIE PLAYBACK IS AWESOME THRU IPOD & AVIC! Sound and picture darn good for being in the vehicle! Matrix Reloaded, Mr&Mrs Smith, Vanilla Sky all looked and sounded great on 5.8″ screen and system.
2.Runs on Windows for doing MODs!
3.The Voice recognition works better than expected. Recognizes most artists I request: Play artist…Metallica, Alice In Chains (funny hearing the female voice saying this back), Slayer, Green Day, Ice Cube, heck even Hootie & The Blowfish requested and played successfully!
4. EQ in the unit is great. Also has Loudness and Source Level Adjust for tweaking music to perfect - got rid of some vehicle rattles and speaker distortion by fine tuning the AVIC.
5. Bluetooth works surprisingly good. Some callers say it sounds better than motorola bluetooth earpiece! Sound on my end is so/so. Still experimenting with this B/T and phone contacts transfer. Touchscreen dialpad very cool!
6.GPS works pretty good but haven’t used it on a road trip or to find a needed location yet. Played around and it got me to my offc ok.
7. Music search using touchscreen is FASSST! Find what you want in seconds using the touch screen without going thru entire IPOD library (previously used Sony CDXGT-610UI and Pioneer Pioneer DEH-P4000).
8. On future road trips I’m gonna connect a PS2 slim thru the front AUX port and using RCA to 3.5mm jack and play video games on the screen(fiance driving of course).
NEGATIVES:
1. What’s up w/ the having to disconnect/reconnect IPOD everytime I start the vehicle? This to ME is the most annoying. Searched AVIC411.com for a solution - didn’t find anything. Once in awhile there’s no problem but usually I have to disconnect and reconnect IPOD.
2. NO REMOTE!!!!!! I’ve used both wireless remote and steering controls and wireless remote hands down best option for convenience and safety. Better than steering wheel control in my opinion. I’ve had to get used to touching the screen to do anything. Researched all over online and couldn’t find a wireless remote I could use with AVIC700. Relegated to using the PAC SWI-PS & steering controls for BASIC functions: volume&track search - it’s “aight”.
3. Start up time I doesn’t really bother me so not a big issue. I always just pray for a blessed trip during this “moment of silence” anyway.
The bugs are minor and for the price - it’s a fantastic unit! Brand new, incl 1yr warranty for [...] Shipping thru Amazon/BarneysElectronics - CAN’T BEAT THAT WITH A STICK!!
01 Maxima SE, AVICF700BT, Pionner 6.75(front)/5.25(rear) components, 10″ Kicker Comp Sub in sealed enclosure(trunk), 2 Sony 600W 4Ch amps, Dynamat trunk kit. Self-Installed all for about [...] for all incl all parts, hardware, amp wiring kits.
4 Stars Great Unit more than satisfied.
I recently got this installed with the iPod cable and steering wheel controls. I’m very satisfied with this unit. Everything works well, GPS is nice and accurate. I do have the 2.0 firmware update.
I have an 80GB iPod classic that works very well. Video quality is above average not great, but i don’t see myself watching many videos on this unit.
The only complaint is the long boot time. It does take about 30-45 seconds to be fully functional, it takes some getting used to. The music does play right away though.
4 out of 5.
4 Stars Good Unit w/ Alot of Features
Good Unit w/ alot of features but still some quirks. Mine arrived w/ the necessary 2.0 update but I still notice alot of quirks and nuances that could still be fixed. It is a MUST to perfom the bypass in order to enable some of the features, check [...] for more info and ppl discussing this unit. I have mine running to an Amp, and one thing I am not too happy about is the low 2Volts pre-outs. I have to crank my amp gains to 60-75% to get the volume I want. I’m still tweaking around trying to get it just how I want, but it’s been fun so far.
2 Stars Not what I expected from Pioneer
I have had nothing but problems with this unit,I have this unit in each of my cars,I first bought the Avic 700 for my Infiniti, after the second day the bluetooth stopped working, after about one hour on the phone with Pioneer I had to replaced the unit,I bought from Amazon so they sent me another unit with no problems. Now for the second car I was happy with the Avic 700 until one day it just stopped working now this unit has to be replaced too.Pioneer customer service is terrible.I just want my factory radios reinstalled, this is way too much trouble,I feel very bad that I own two of these units,I could kick myself.I will never buy a Pioneer product again. If you decide to buy this unit be sure to check the return policy, chances are you will need to send it back.Good luck.
Transcend 16 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card with Card Reader TS16GSDHC6 S5W
April 4, 2009 by DigiBliss · Leave a Comment
Approximately the size of a postage stamp, SDHC cards offer greater capacity than standard SD cards while maintaining the same form factor. |
SDHC Class 6 cards offer more capacity and faster transfer rates. |
Display thousands of high quality photos on SDHC enabled digital photo frames. |
Ideal for expanding storage capabilities of netbooks and mini laptops with SDHC slots. |
Store More Photos
With most point and shoot digital cameras quickly climbing the megapixel ladder, 6,8, and even 10 megapixel ratings are beginning to be commonplace. With Transcend SDHC cards, you can keep up with the larger files these high resolution cameras produce. With 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB capacities, you can store more photos without having to delete old photos on the card before you have the chance to save them to a PC or print them out.
Store More of Everything
The larger capacities of SDHC cards make them more versatile than ever. Use them in all your mobile devices that support the SDHC standard. All that is required is an SDHC compatible slot or reader. SDHC is an extension of the original SD standard that enables capacities greater than 2 GB. It uses the same physical form factor as SD, but SDHC cards only work in SDHC compatible devices. Standard SD cards work in both SD and SDHC devices (backward compatible).
Enjoy Faster Transfer Speeds
Basic SD cards transfer data up to six times (6x) the data rate of the standard CD-ROM speed (900 kB/s). Transcend SDHC class 6 cards offer a minimum of 6 MB/s write speeds under the most demanding storage conditions. Some cameras require a high speed card to be able to record video smoothly or capture multiple still photographs in rapid succession. Check your device for maximum compatibility for your intended usage patterns.
Features
- Fully compatible with SD 2.0 Standards
- SDHC Class 6 compliant
- Compatible with all SDHC-labeled host devices (not compatible with standard SD)
- Easy to use, plug-and-play operation
- Built-in Error Correcting Code (ECC) to detect and correct transfer errors
- Complies with Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) portable device requirements
- Supports Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM)
- Allows In System Programming (ISP) for updating firmware
- Supports auto-standby, power-off and sleep modes
- Mechanical write-protection switch
- RoHS compliant
- Lifetime Warranty
Ensure Your Device is SDHC Compatible
SDHC devices can use both older SD cards and SDHC (high capacity) cards. However older cameras and other devices that were released before the SDHC standard may not support the new SDHC cards. Please check your device documentation to verify compatibility before purchase. If your device is fairly new or states support for 4 GB or greater SD cards, then you already have SDHC support.
Digital Camera Storage Capacity Table
Memory cards should be purchased according to how high the resolution or DPI (dots per inch) of your digital camera is (i.e. how many megapixels it has), and how many pictures you plan on taking at a time. Transcend has provided the following graph to assist you in buying an appropriate capacity card for your camera:
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
*The “File size” represented here assumes that the highest resolution (DPI) your camera supports is used and that pictures are stored in standard JPEG format. The actual number of pictures you can take will vary depending on your digital camera’s resolution and compression settings, composition (complexity) of the images taken, as well as lighting and exposure factors.

5 Stars Works Fine in My Cowon D2 MP3 Player…
…so it does exactly what I bought it for so far. Formatted it, popped it into my D2 and started loading my music, lectures and audio books onto it.
Load time was very reasonable, certainly not too slow. Flawless function thus far. It’s been in my D2 for about 6 weeks now. Time will tell if the card holds up over the long haul. If it does, it was an exceptional value for the cost at the time I bought it (these things keep dropping in price almost by the hour it seems here lately).
5 Stars Excellent value, works great with my Canon Vixia HF10!
I’ve used this for weeks with my Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder to record high definition video files (AVCHD format). It works great - and I’m very happy with the price. I bought one card by itself and one with the reader - combined with my onboard memory I should be set for most projects. I really like to use the reader since it leaves my camcorder free - and it’s so much handier (for some reason by design the camcorder won’t run off batteries when it is downloading files, so you have to plug it in to the wall outlet and also plug it into the computer with a USB 2.0 cable; with the little card reader all I do is pop out the card and plug it into the reader and plug that into the USB outlet).
4 Stars Great value
As I was traveling in China for 2 months, I needed something to store a massive amount of pictures on my Nikon D90. I ended up almost filling it all. I was also constantly outputting images through to the net using the adapter. It’s light, compact and a much better alternative to a cable. No glitches, no quirks, no problems whatsoever. Best solution and great value.
Note: cameras tend to get slower as the amount of pictures on the card increases. You won’t notice it on small 1 or 2 gig cards, but at 16 gb, carrying easily over 6000 pics, you’ll probably notice that your camera might get a sly sluggish on previews.
5 Stars Great Card and Card Reader
Bought this product from Amazon and received within 3 days. Great service. Memory card is also quite good, it’s a 16GB Class 6 SDHC card and I got it for my new Canon Rebel XSi DSLR Camera to save the images in RAW format. RAW file size is huge, around 16MB for 1 photo. So with this card I can comfortably take 1000 pics without formatting. As it is a class 6 SDHC card, camera read/write speed is also fast. Another great stuff is the card reader. I am using MacBook Aluminum and it doesn’t have in built card reader. So this external card reader is great help for me. I don’t have to connect the camera with USB cable with MacBook. Just pull the SDHC card, put it in card reader and plug the card reader into the USB port of MacBook. Then iPhoto or Adobe Lightroom instantly detect the storage and transfer it fast.
5 Stars Inexpensive and Fast!
I was upgrading my SD Card from a Class 4 to a Class 6 and I must say this Transcend Class 6 is awesome!!
I can only assume that some people’s reviews saying the card is no faster is predicated by the type of system or device they are using.
I tested both in my digital camera, camcorder, as well as, directly in OSX and I noticed significant performance increase.
Ordered on Monday at 4pm and received the following day at 10am. You have to love Amazon!!!

1 Star Motorola H700 bluetooth headset
I have a Palm Centro with Sprint service. This is the second Bluetooth that did not work well. Clients could hear every other word I said. I now have a Plantronics and am very happy. People can hear me clearly.
3 Stars Adequate, not great
Pros: light.
Cons: Battery runs empty, even when not in use. Hard to hear with other sounds around you. People complain that it is hard to hear you.
I’m not sure that any of the BT headset are much better, so I’m giving it 3 stars, instead of 2.
5 Stars BLue tooth at its best
This was my first blue tooth that I had ever purchased. I love it! The sound quality is perfect. Even when driving in the car…your friends will not know if you are on the “phone” or on your blue tooth. There is no “hissing” or any back round noise. If you are businessman on the go or even a stay at home dad like me….you will love your Mororola H700 Bluetooth. I know that I do! Thank you and good night
2 Stars Great at first, but not durable
I’ve owned two of these. It is great that it rests against your ear, and is very comfortable not having an earpiece sticking in your ear. The first one I owned, after a month, lost most of its volume. I could not make the volume louder via the volume control; the volume control actually never seemed to work, but at least at first the volume was real good…for about a month. The second one I bought lasted about 9 months, but now the button to answer or hang up on a call does not work.
5 Stars Good Listening
This small hand free piece is just great. I fits the ear and the sound quality is clear. I purchased two one for my self and one for my husband.
Thank you.
